North Tyneside Big Local (NTBL) is a community-led charity based in Whitley Bay that works to create a fairer, greener, and more connected North Tyneside. Through practical action and strong local partnerships, NTBL empowers residents to tackle environmental challenges while improving quality of life. Projects focus on reducing waste, cutting carbon emissions, supporting community resilience, and ensuring that the benefits of the green transition are accessible to everyone, particularly those facing social and economic disadvantage.

NTBL delivers a wide range of sustainability projects, including Renew North Tyneside, one of the region's largest reuse hubs, which diverts thousands of items from landfill and makes affordable goods available to local people. The organisation is also developing innovative community energy projects, such as local renewable energy generation, battery storage, and social virtual power plant models that enable residents to share in the benefits of clean energy. By combining environmental action with social justice, NTBL is helping to build a greener, more inclusive future where communities have greater control over their resources, energy, and wellbeing.
